We value every one that attends a Uniity event, and we value each person for who they are. All backgrounds, cultures, faiths, personalities, and lifestyle choices. All pretences drop away when you join us, whether that is in the kitchen at our Cook & Talk or on a walk in nature, or investigating your creativity at our Create & Talk sessions. When you join us, you come as you are, in the moment.

Kip is very good at living in the moment. You may have seen Kip’s smiling face at one of our activities over the past few years.

Kip is one of those people that you feel immediately at ease with. She has a strong sense of social justice, with a keen passion in climate change and the environment. She is also a talented ukulele player!

Kip has a caring nature, which may be why she spent most of her career as a midwife, specialising on the postnatal ward. She originally gravitated towards studying social work, then nursing, and progressed on to be a midwife, where she really enjoyed focusing on the woman’s wellbeing after giving birth.

Kip quickly aligned with the Uniity philosophy, and has met so many interesting people through her time attending our events and activities over the years. Kip’s social justice and morality shines through when she reflects on the people she has met.

“We are all so unique and the good thing about Uniity is there is no judgement, everyone is accepted for who they are, and everyone has something to offer.

This really resonates with my values. People are people and should always be given the same opportunities.

I get passionate about equality and have been involved in a range of activism throughout my life, from indigenous rights, to the rights of children. I really believe that children need the same opportunities to further develop their education and use their unique talents.”

Kip understands the challenges in life with making deep friendships. Having lost a few very close friends over the past few years, it can sometimes be difficult to find those deep connections as adults.

“I have made some strong friendships with people that I wouldn’t have otherwise encountered, it has been great; we find things in common, have laughs, and support each other, heart to heart.

And in all this time we still haven’t run out of things to talk about,” she says.

A recent friendship that Kip reflects on, has had a profound effect and immense benefits for both of them.

“A friend I made at Tea & Talk had been pretty socially isolated for 2-3 years. Now we meet nearly every week. She invited some of us over to her house, we had some lovely food she prepared and a bottle of bubbly. It may sound simple to most people, and something we take for granted, but she has not had the opportunity to have anyone around to her house for the past 3-4 years. It was such a big step for her and we felt very special,” says Kip.

Uniity acknowledges the land that we meet, live and play on is the traditional lands for the Kaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their country.
We recognise their sacred stories and dreams and will continue to walk alongside them for a fair and just Australia. We invite you to dream, learn and listen with us.
